Throughout life, music has had a major impact on myself. When I hear certain songs it makes me think of certain memories. The song, The Reason, sends me back to my childhood when I was growing up on 2000’s pop. Before all of my football games, I listen to hardcore rap, with the song Man of the Year. My brother has had a tremendous impression on me as I have grown up and the song that resembles Tyler is, Freebird. Music has a special way of helping you remember the good and the bad times in life.
The Reason sends me back to about the age of six. During summer as a kid this song would always get played whether at the pool, in the car, or at home on the radio. The best memory that this song brings to me are the prolonged hot days at the Country Club swimming pool, with my mom and brother. Nine times out of ten, when I popped my little head out of the cool, refreshing water to get a heaping breath of air, this song would fill the air. The Reason was way too overplayed. As summer went on, this song continued to get played over and over again, forcing me to horror the song by the end of the summer. To this day, things have changed, I now enjoy hearing this song, making me remember the old summer days and how much I actually disliked it. The Reason is a fantastic song that I will cherish for the

Freebird makes me think of being at rest, having no worries and no harmful things in life. My brother, Tyler, used to listen to this song all the time, whether on an ipod or in the car. My brother is one of those individuals that is almost worry free and whatever flows goes. Me being the little brother that I am, makes me want to be like my big brother, so I use this song to help me feel free. Freebird has taught me not to worry about things that are not in my control and to let life take its path. This song takes me back to when I was a kid and had absolutely nothing to worry about. The free bird in me stills flies as well as my

But her dreams give her wings/ And she flies to a place where she’s loved” (21-23). In the song, the singer compares the girl to an angel because she rises above her horrible conditions and imagines having love. Even though the chorus’ clear focus is to describe the young girl, the chorus has an underlying concept; the chorus foreshadows her death at the end of the song because it explains that she becomes an angel and flies to a loving place. People most likely associate angels with heaven; therefore, the listeners can assume that she will pass away to a place like heaven.…

The book I read was Armada by Earnest Cline, and I created a list of songs that could compliment the books aspects. The songs I chose were “Walking On the Moon” for the setting, “Holding Out for a Hero” for the main character, “It’s the End of the World” for the conflict, “What’s Really Happening” for the Climax, “One Vision” for the resolution, “Beds are Burning” for the symbolism, and “Imagine” for the theme. I chose the song “Walking on the Moon” by The Police to represent the setting of my book because the main character, Zach, actually does walk on the moon. The setting of the story is not just the moon though. It takes place in the year 2018 in Beaverton, Oregon for the beginning of the story.…

This song was “No Rain” by Blind Melon, and usually, when I heard it, it was just a calming, catchy song. But when I heard this song on this occasion, I heard it with a different perspective.…

The media perceives Taylor Swift as nothing more than a clingy, manipulative, and crazy young woman who jumps from relationship to relationship. Being the lyrical genius she is, Swift created the song "Blank Space" in 2014 to defend her position with this preconceived notion. She uses many rhetorical devices to explain her position in this argument against the media. With the beneficial use of rhetorical devices, Taylor Swift shows that boys will only stay if it is worth a fight, and that she is fully conscious of the media representation.…

Songs are storytellers of life. They often tell a narrative that portray human characteristics such as emotions, experiences, and personality that listeners can relate to in some way. These stories can evoke positive or negative emotions due to the experiences of the listener. Everyone has that one song that they feel as if it was written for them, the one that stands out and relates to who they are as a person; that song for me is “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus. This song expresses the struggles that have helped me become a stronger person, the never-ending challenges that I tackle instead of running from, and my motto of never giving up despite how hard continuing on might be.…
