Michael Joseph Jackson was born on August 29, 1958, in Indiana “and entertained audiences nearly his entire life.” (Brumburg). The album Bad was released in August 31, 1987 and was Jackson’s 7th studio album. Man in the Mirror was a hit song and had an important message. It was about needing change. Jackson realizes he must start with himself, that he needs to be the change he wants to see in the world. The chorus: “I’m starting with the man in the mirror I’m asking him to change his ways and no message could have been any clearer if you wanna make the world a better place take a look at yourself and then make a change” sheds hope that this will start a chain reaction to encourage change throughout the world.
