Mama's Boy Play Analysis

A Portland Press Herald review written by April Boyle of Good Theaters, “Mama’s Boy” focused on how well cast the actors were. Something I agree with a hundred and ten percent. The actors truly embodied each characters. One actor in particular, Betsy Aidem, who played Marguerite, Lee Harvey Oswald’s mother captured the sprite of a mother who has lost everything, now fighting to hold on to the only joy she has left, her youngest son Lee. The review highlighted the fact that the play itself has nothing heavily concerning the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, or politics of any kind, but more shading a light on Lee Harvey’s home life. Mama’s Boy takes you pass the man who is now forever bedded in history as an American assassin, and shows you the child who was pushed away by the person who loved him the most. One way to better understand someone is to learn who they are and there is no better way than to look on the inside, they home life. Lee was troubled, his home life affected him dramatically. This play brought forth a different perspective of the life of Lee Harvey Oswald, and what it brought to the city of Portland was art, something the city is well known for. As the review heavily highlights the actors brought each character to life and gave the audience a realistic view of one of the well-known names in American history. For the amazing city of Portland theater is another luxury. An outlet to escape from our daily lives, and be witness to a true talent. Theater add another element of art to Portland, with the great museums and music venues we have, acting, live acting brings another great
