Selective breeding is the characteristics of an animal or plant. Selective breeding is done by the different characteristics, by the parents of the plant/animal/human of the baby. In this essay I’m going to talk about why you should and shouldn’t have a Maltese Shih Tzu as a pet and why. I will also talk about where they use selective breeding. The animal I’m focusing on is a Maltese Shih Tzu dogs.
History
The history behind the Maltese Shih Tzu is they started breeding in the 1990’s. They would breed a Maltese cross a Shih Tzu and together they made a Maltese Shih Tzu breed.
Why we should have Maltese Shih Tzu dogs?
We should have Maltese Shih Tzu dog as a pet because they are a loyal and gentle pet to have around. People choose Maltese Shih Tzu because they have a lifespan of 12-14 years and they don’t usually have health problems at birth, if they do they get them later in life. The maintenance of the dog is low to medium because the dogs don’t shed fur anywhere and they only need a haircut every 2-3 months. Some reasons why we shouldn’t have Maltese Shih Tzu dogs are because they cost a lot of money from an average of $400-$700 but the price is different in different parts of the world. Some people might find it hard to look after a dog so friendly and loyal because they have to do other things in life so they are not the best pet to have. Maltese Shih Tzu also like a lot of attention so you need to be able to pay attention to them and have the time to play with them.
