Male Minority Model Case Study

The 3 male minority model is based on the three different kinds of minority’s males we typically see in the academic setting. In addition, this model will also serve as insight in how we may interact with all 3 minorities’ males and what kind of communication best works when dealing with these three different minority males. In exploring the minority male model I will also research academic journals and writings which supports my idea and also gives us a more in-depth approach in interacting with male minorities. The ideas below are preliminary and brief snippets of all three minority males.
The first kind of male minority is the “culturally sound” minority. This male minority is prone to fit stereotypes and stigmas that are associated with that culture. Also, they’re likely to come from less than ideal conditions and circumstances. Higher education may not have been a priority for them and a support system along with family structure were likely not present. This type of male minority requires a special type of communication which empathy, sensitivity, and understanding are all applied. This male minority has lived a life of privilege and is likely not to be culturally sound at all, and are likely to have faced far less hardship or obstacles during their life. The individual is likely to be highly educated having received a quality of education that is better than most. In addition, this person may have not heard the word “no” a lot in their life and may feel entitled to certain things. However, this individual is likely to place an emphasis on education and may perform better, or will at least have the tools already necessary to do so. You should be assertive with this person but also give them room as they may be more
