Two men, born nearly a hundred years apart, each seeking revolutionary changes in the United States in ways suited to their society and circumstances. Frederick Douglass and Malcolm X were monumental and influential and prominent (pattern c) figures in American history. In the books Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass and The Autobiography of Malcolm X, (pattern B) both Douglass and Malcolm used their extraordinary oratorical skills and charisma to object to the systematic oppression and subjugation that was imposed on African-Americans. The philosophy of Douglass and Malcolm is characterized by the similarities and differences of their views on education, Christianity, and slavery.…
Martin and Malcom X fought for black freedom. Martin has been honored with a national holiday, although Malcom has been honored only a postage stamp. However, some people do not understand the history of Malcom’s final year in political progress. Martin has grown up with his family who were wealthy and he was a doctor, but Malcom X family was not wealthy. They have may similarities and difference such as they both were sons of ethically active Baptist ministers and both were supporters of religious freedom.…
Neko Larmie Mr. Owens American Experience 6 Oct. 2017 The Fight For Freedom Freedom is a universal right that has been given to all people and the fight for freedom has been expressed by many in many different ways. Marable continues, “For Malcolm, the lure was more secular: Nation of Islam held out the possibility of finding self-respect and even dignity as a black man. This was a faith that said blacks had nothing for which to be ashamed or apologetic.” (Marable 78) Malcolm X knows that in the United States there is inequality for African Americans. Especially knowing what happened with Earl Little, Malcolm X has a moderate amount of hatred towards what happened and the people that did that to him were motivated by racism and bigotry.…

Founding intellectuals Malcolm X, WEB Dubois, Carter G. Woodson, and Frederick Douglass all believed that the role of the scholar in Black Studies was the most important in the fight against European powers and American institutionalization. The scholars would hold the key to preserving the history and heritage of African American culture. Malcolm X shared an intense analysis of the educational issues of African Americans. He sought to make blacks value their history and culture by making it the focal point of their education. According to Malcolm, education and knowledge affects an individual’s actions by allowing an individual to strive to continue achievements of their cultural history.…
conventions. Martin Luther King Jr. was christian, and never reacted to counter-protests with violence. Malcolm X, on the other hand, was famously quoted saying, "By Any Means Necessary", which alludes to the violent measures he was willing to take to get his point across. Martin Luther King Jr. believed strongly in integration, and pushed to integrate public facilities across America.…
While in Mecca, Malcolm X got an opportunity to make his Hajj, a religious journey to Mecca that most adult Muslims are expected to make at least once in their lifetime. This Hajj, as implied in the document made Malcolm X’s perspective on the “incurable cancer” ‘plaguing America”, racism, completely changed, ‘We were truly all the same (brothers)- because their belief in one god had removed the white from their minds, the white from their behavior, and the white from their attitude” In this quote the word’s “white connotation meant racism. He experienced something that could never be felt in America. A sense of equality, a sense of belonging in a place where “one religion” “erases from its society the race problem” Throughout this document the reader really gets a chance to view the dramatic change Malcolm X made with his conversion to true islam and how he left the idea of “black separatism” and “black pride”…
Our founding fathers created the Constitution to be changed and ratified. They knew that different times would call for different measures in government and the citizens. The Civil Rights movement was a time in American history that revolutionist changed the constitution to favor the minorities that were being treated poorly. African Americans play a vitally important role in the United States today, but how can we image how they have suffered countless oppressions for a long time in the twentieth century. Although the Emancipation Proclamation was published for a long time, the genuine equality was not being achieved by countless black people (Goodheart). Some of them were still segregated by white people just because of racism. What we should give attention to is that black people still lived in the bottom of the American society. The society had completely divided human beings into two categories at that time.…

Throughout history’s fight for black equality, there have numerous individuals in which have decided to take a stand and forever change the world; Malcolm X is no exception to this. His methods to achieve Civil Rights for African Americans were both controversial yet struck home with many blacks tired of waiting defenceless. It is to a moderate extent that his methods were successful in his use of various tactics such as pro-violence and the encouragement of critical thinking about racial problems around the world. Malcolm X’s most known and used method was his violent protests against their white oppressors. A main aspect of X’s beliefs came through the Nation Of Islam.…
I have chosen to examine both theorists Martin Luther King Jr, and Malcom X in my proposal. The reason for choosing Dr. King and Malcolm X is that they were both famous African Americans in the 1960s. These two individuals grew to be famous in their own right. Today many people throughout the United States continue to read their writings, and magazine articles. Dr. King was a peaceful man who came from a middle-class family and where education was important.…
