Malaysia Airlines Human Resource Essay
Malaysia Airlines Services or MAS is Malaysia national air transport service provider. Starting off in 1947, a small air service with just one twin engine Air Consul and now has become an award-winning airline with a fleet of more than 100 aircraft and servicing more than 100 different destinations.
Three major human resource issues are being identified including over-supply of manpower and low productivity, discrimination and diversity. These three issues are being further explained and discuss in the following report. Over-supply of manpower and low productivity are seen as greatest problem that Malaysia Airlines was facing.

3.1 Unpleasant Working Environment
The recent Special ESOS that instantly enriched few novices and non airline-experienced management, at the expense of hardworking and diligent MAS staff, has taken its toll. The workforce is obviously de-motivated by the biased share allocation and has retracted from the companies’ tagline “beyond expectation” service and a spate of flight delays are happening daily.
In a Sunday Times report, the CEO denied that it is due to de-motivated staff and attempt to attribute the delays to technical reasons. Yet, the bulk of the statement is addressing problems arising from the controversial Special ESOS. Malaysian Airline has a history of sabotage from disgruntled staff. Management has enhanced security and supervision in the engineering work area to ensure no repeated incident of wire cutting as happened many years ago. Perhaps, the CEO has personally considered doing late night surprise engine count check.
Dissatisfaction is clearly endemic throughout the whole organization. MAS Managers and staff have resigned to a work-to-rule unspoken protest. There is wide spread reluctance to undertake any "extra effort" initiatives. Sentiment among staff is rather negative in nature. The corruptible MASEU and MAS union officials do not help their cause either.
