Some teens speak up, achieve their goal, keep fighting until they achieve their goal, and find ways to keep raising awareness for what they believe in. These activists never give up no matter how difficult their task is, they are extraordinary because other individuals that don’t have the willpower to speak up didn’t push themselves, and they became complacent with who they are. An example of teens is Malala Yousafzai, a young lady that fights for girls’ education rights, Alex Lin, a teen who wants to help reduce the harmful e-waste, and Iqbal Masih, the boy that wanted to save child slavery. Alex Lin is efficient because he fixed many pounds of computer that residents would normally throw away. Then, he made electronic stations all over the world. Alex Lin first started to do something about e-waste in fifth grade after the 2004 Wall Street Journal article. Only 18 percent of computers and televisions were recycled in 2007. More than 300 of the fixed computers that Alex Lin fixed, was donated to students without the privilege of having a computer. Alex Lin explained from “Alex Lin, Teenage Activist”, “We recognized that the true sustainability of our project lay in legislation.” After this successful act he kept on going by making a bill, unfortunately the bill did not pass. Even though the bill didn’t pass he tried again, but made the bill a little less complicated. They also went around with fliers, wrote articles, made radio announcements, and made speeches. This time the bill has passed, making it now illegal to not recycle e-waste in Rhode
