Education Activist
Courageous, upstanding, education activist, are some words people will think stand for Malala Yousafzai. Most people know that Malala was shot in the head for going to school, but she was so much more. As an education activist, Malala Yousafzai proved to the world that even an ordinary schoolgirl could make a change in education. She left a legacy that helps people that need education. One of the hardest countries for girls to get an education is where Malala was born. In Pakistan the gender gap between men and women is large (Shamsie,theguardian.com). Girls mostly don’t go to school. They instead stay home and have to listen to any male who tells them something. Even for boys, it is hard to get an education. …show more content…
This showed Malala that education is important and should be for all, not just some. She made her first speech about girls going to school at age 11, and was extremely active with her parents help. That power of speech would help her later, because the Taliban weren’t gone yet.
The spread of “talibanism” has been slowed by Malala through various methods. Malala is not just a good speaker, but also a good writer as she showed by writing a blog about life under Taliban rule. This gave her public and worldwide impacts which she used to show everyone the malevolence of the Taliban. She also empowered girls to get an education as a public speaker. All that attention made some people angered at of her speeches. On October 9, 2012 the Taliban attempted to kill Malala on her way home by shooting her in the head, but the shooting was unsuccessful and Malala later recovered. The fact that someone would try to kill just for a girl going to school sparked outrage and shock, which therefore resulted in a large amount of support, to Malala and her cause. Malala’s voice, instead of being silenced, was amplified so much that she was heard around the globe. Malala was given a huge downpour of support, therefore resulting in an impact on the whole
