People can be motivated and inspired to change the world in many different ways, however, Malala Yousafzai was specifically motivated by her father and the events that took place in her life. Malala is an activist who supports women’s educational rights(Biography.com). She is often perceived as a voice for people who are not heard, and do not even have a voice in certain cultures. Malala is also the youngest person to win a Nobel Peace Prize, because of the struggles she has gone through and her participation in social justice. Malala Yousafzai, born in Mingora, Pakistan, had been raised to believe she was entitled to the right of education. Her father started several schools and taught her that everyone deserved the right to learn(BiographyOnline …show more content…
Her hometown was once a common tourist location, but as she got older it started to fall under the control of the Taliban(Biography.com 1). Because of the rise of Taliban activity in the area, schools that provided girl’s education were being burned down. Malala was enraged by the recent happenings, and gave a speech in a nearby town about them. After her speech was given, Malala received death threats from the Taliban. But, that would not stop her. Malala would continue working for her and her fellow women’s right to education(Biography.com 1). On October 9, 2012, while riding a bus on her way to school, Malala’s bus was raided by the Taliban and she was shot in the head by a gunman ordered to target her. Malala suffered for weeks in a hospital bed, but she survived and walked away with no major injuries after her recovery(Biography.com 1). These events backfired on the Taliban, and inspired Malala to even more heavily support women’s right to education. She has since written a book about how her experiences have motivated and reminded her to stay strong in her beliefs.
