What is a hero? There are many people that are worthy of the title of a hero, both ordinary and extraordinary. They are noble, courageous, and go out of their way to do good for others. Malala Yousafzai is a women’s rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize winner that stood up for young Pakistani girls’ right to receive an education. Malala is a selfless leader who stood up for what she believed in and accomplished remarkable things to help others, which makes her a true hero. There are many different traits of heroes that make them the remarkable people they are. Most heroes are selfless, determined, brave, and courageous. They display strong leadership and are willing to make sacrifices to make the world a better place for themselves and, more importantly, others. Heroes are often humble and modest and put other people’s needs above their own. Heroes do not seek reward or approval for doing good deeds. She is a women’s and children’s rights activist that endangered her own life so young girls in Pakistan would have the right to receive an education. She stood up for what she believed in to help girls that did not have a voice of their own. Malala made sacrifices so others would have the rights she felt they deserved. She is clearly a hero because she won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014 for her bravery and the hardship she faced. She is the youngest person to ever win the award.
