Even as a young girl, Malala spoke about the importance of education in her home country, Pakistan. With the threat of the Taliban, and their attempts to shut down girls’ schools and prevent them from going to school, Malala was making a very risky move. She was later named a target.

She is the youngest Nobel Peace Prize winner ever, at age 17. She has spoken at the United Nations, written for BBC, and has set up her own charity, all in her teenage years. She continues to speak out and urge political leaders to contribute money to education, so that every child in the world can receive their basic right to knowledge.
Recently, Malala has opened an all girls school in Lebanon for Syrian refugees. The school is open to 200 children from the ages of 14-18, and will offer the students baccalaureate and vocational life skills training, which these girls desperately need. These courses will help them find work and generate income for themselves, making them independent.
Yousafzai has also called out to the world’s leaders by starting the trend, #BooksNotBullets, which encourages the leaders of the world to take 8 days off of their military spending to contribute to the world’s education fund. By taking of the 8 days of military spending, there would be enough money ($39 billion USD) to ensure that every child in the world has a full 12 year
