In the story “Don’t Give Up The Fight” and the poem “Making Sarah Cry” both show the theme of friendship. In “Don’t Give Up The FIght”, the main character Ava tells her friend and she helps Ava at the end of story. In “Making Sarah Cry” the main character helps Sarah and she helps the main character. “Don’t Give Up The Fight” and “ Making Sarah Cry” showed the theme of friendship differently. In “Don’t Give Up The Fight” Ava’s actions involved a plan and she knew what to do. “Making Sarah Cry” the main character actions’ are not planned and he just stood up for Sarah.

In the poem “Making Sarah Cry” the theme is friendship. “Leave him alone you bullies, Because he’s a friend of mine.” Sarah stood up for the main character even though he made fun of her too. But she still did this because she forgave him and wanted to be friends with them. If Sarah stood up for him, and she showed him friendship and that she cares about him. “ For a game of kickball and laughter, and teaching their new friend, Sarah, how to play.” This supports my claim because all of them are finally friends. Now they all accept each other and play together on the playground.

In “Don”t Give Up The Fight” the theme that is shown is friendship. “But Lindsay's friendship had awakened me, and now the words of the song

In “Don’t Give Up The Fight” Ava’s actions were planned. Ava and Lindsay knew Jacob and Mr.McCoy were going to get in trouble. They helped each other planned the whole thing. Which shows friendship, but differently than “Making Sarah Cry”. The poem “Making Sarah Cry” shows friendship differently because the character’s actions weren’t planned.
