Quebec City has one of the worst minimum teacher salaries clocking in at 40’000.00 a year says Montreal gazette. Sure they can get a maximum pay of 70’000.00 a year, but the problem is the minimum. It shows that teachers in the province of Quebec are not seen as important as they really are. They are not getting a great salary for the good they are providing for the province. We think that teachers have a huge impact on the economy, through teaching students. If teachers are not motivated to be good at their profession, what is going to happen to the students? The result of that is students are coming out of school with a lack of education. Teachers that are motivated will not give up on a single student, they will help students understand the course and the material. We think that since teachers with low salaries do not try as much to teach students and it affects the state of the economy. If a student fails a class because they do not understand the course this student might not even want to continue their education in this course, maybe even give up on school entirely. In the long run this student might end up being homeless or living with their parents unable to acquire a job. This is a big issue for the already broken socio-economic situation facing the province of Quebec, all because of budget cuts to schools by the government. Governments are always interfering with economy sometimes for the better, but that doesn’t mean it is better. Budget cuts to schools affects how good the class room equipment is, in our opinion an example would be how Vanier doesn’t put enough money into the school’s class rooms so we get slow working computers, which hardly ever work. With slow working computers some of the classes take longer to teach and/or make a class behind. Budget cuts are so bad that Vanier didn’t even want to buy door stoppers, so classes had to use desks as door stoppers. Another example of budget cuts to schools in Quebec would be by CBC news, where they explain that the cuts are so bad that students can’t even go to class with a carton of milk anymore. There is also a deficiency in toilet paper in this Quebec school. These issues all affect how a student feels during the day and how motivated he/she is. These also affect a how student gets thought. And like we said in the intro a good learning experience for a student means a better standard of living, a better standard of living means an increase in the socio-economic value of Quebec. We think that the budget cuts for schools is horrible and means it impacts the economy in the long run.
In conclusion, a big socio-economic issue facing the province of Quebec is the lack of money going into schools. It affects how teachers feel on teaching students,
