Working While In High School Essay

Don’t you think getting a part-time job before completing high school is ideal? Although many parents believe children should not work while they are in school, allowing high-school students to work while they are in school will help them develop some experience, responsibility, and better future career. As a high-school student with a job, I can speak from my countless experiences and excitement. I worked on the weekends and after school while I was in high school, and still manage to graduate in the top 10% of my class. Even though I worked about 20-25 hours a week I found time to do my homework and had fun with my friends. I agree that students should give priority to their schoolwork as my parents suggested me to do, but school is not the only place where students can learn and gain inconsiderable knowledge and responsible behaviors. Many high-school students spend their spare time playing video games or watching TV. However, if they work a part-time job, they can feel more independent. For instance, while I was working during high school, I felt independent because I never asked my parents to put gas in my car or to pay for my prom tuxedo. At the same time, I developed responsible behavior through the job. Thought their part-time job students learn how to accept responsibility and develop a decent responsible behaviors such as honesty, accountability, and respect. For example, when students go to college, they have to take responsibility to make sure that they turned in their work on time. As students grow older, their responsibility only increases and part-time jobs teach and enable them how to multitask and handle such a lot of responsibilities. Having a job prior to college will help them learn how to deal with such a big responsibility and it is also a good way to explore their career
