When Teresa was reported missing the county set out many search parties for her and one mother and her teenage daughter decided to check the Avery salvage yard for a key piece of evidence like her car or maybe even herself. They found Teresa 's vehicle covered with debris deep in the salvage yard and that is what led to the arrest of Steven Avery. Later there was blood found in the car that was tested and matched to Avery and the key to the car was found in Avery 's home. All of this evidence makes you think this is a clear cut case that will put Steven Avery for good right? Not quite. Since Steven was indicted for murder his 36 million that he originally wanted was cut to 400,000, just enough to hire the best defense team money could buy. That defense team was made up of the two finest lawyers in Wisconsin Jerome Buting and Dean Strange.
