Creating A Small Community Essay

Even though you can’t just appoint anyone to help run a small community; you have to get others opinion and hear what they want, what their needs are so they can feel a part of this community. In order to make a group, community, or maybe even a family it’s important to set a foundation to make things function properly. If we started from the bottom making a community with limited resources you have to use what you got and expand them to make something better to create more resources. A community needs strong leaders and leaders that are knowledgeable and wise. Making a small community will only function if you set rules and regulations. Making a community from scratch with limited sources. Suppose we planned on taking a vacation; a summer …show more content…
With that said humans live as long as their health is good. We need to search for herbs and things around the island to medicate are people who are in need of it to survive. We need to create a group of hunters to go out and hunt for food and not only the animal skin could be used for clothing maybe blankets. We can start to grow vegetation if we find a piece of land that permits us to do so. With the many bodies of water we have we will be well off to maintain it. On the other hand the island might sound so nice and peaceful, but there is dangerous animals out there and the people need protection. We the people need to think about creating something like making knives or spheres. In creating a community you want the people to feel safe and feel protected there. Our community needs a group that will be in charge of people who get out of hand. We need to create some kind of holding cell or a place to keep the ones that get out of hand. With the rules we create we expect for our community to follow because without rules we would live like a bunch of monkeys. I believe in creating sports out there with the resources we have to keep us exercising and healthy and not only that but to keep our minds busy. Another point I want to set out there is who knows how long we are going to be out there and another way to take care of ourselves is by keeping a peaceful mind. Our people might

As I have been reading and researching communities, most follow similar general patterns and outlines. The community members are working together for a common goal or they are brought together by corresponding qualities. When I think of the word community it is usually with a positive connotation rather than negative. In Amy Tan’s essay, she introduced a community that her mother was apart of that caused me to rethink my definition of community. Her mother was apart of a community of “broken” and/or “limited” English speakers by default because she could not speak our language properly according to our rules of grammer.…

Recently I have read your presentation, “Island Civilization: A Vision for Human Occupancy of Earth in the Fourth Millennium” that was to the Simon Fraser Institute for the Humanities on October 16, 2008, and I must say that it is indeed extremely intriguing to be able to have Island Civilization. Out of the four possible scenarios that you mentioned in your presentation, which was wasteland scenario, garden scenario, future primitive, and Island Civilization, I think that Island Civilization will be the one that will allow the human species to survive and not become extinct. However, Island Civilization would be the hardest of the four scenarios to achieve due to the fact that it requires everyone to sacrifice something that is incredibly important to them, their freedom. In your presentation you stated that wilderness is “a state of mind, a perception, rather than a…

There are many different definitions for the term community. Every person has their own idea about what a community is. Then there is also the distinction between a living community and an online one. Some people argue that there is not such a thing, while others argue that not only is there such a thing as an online community, but it is becoming far more prevalent than a living one. After reading the texts by Michael Brill and Elliot Volkman I now have an understanding of how both Brill and Volkman define community.…

Community colleges have changed dramatically over the past decade. The American Association of Community Colleges (AACC, 2012) defined this change and called for “community college leaders to breathe life into the vision outlined by the Commission, in which students’ educational experiences are redesigned, institutional roles are reinvented, and the system itself has been reset to meet the needs of students, their communities, and the nation.” (p. vi). In addition, the traditional model of college is changing. The Chronicle Research Services published a report named The College of 2020:…

Divorce rates have gone up over the last decade, and the number of single parent families has grown along with it. Divorce rates in America range between 40-50% while the single parent family rate is over 40%. What caused this increase? In my opinion, it is not that more people are unhappy with their marriage now than they were 50 years ago, but that the culture has changed its values over the years and that stigma of getting a divorce has gone away. The divorce rate increased, as more and more people realized they could get out of an unhappy marriage, and not face any ridicule for it.…

With the high demand for students to obtain a college degree, the majority of society assumes high school seniors should make college the next step in their lives. However, going to college and actually completing the journey is much easier said than done. Many factors such as the price of tuition, the increased competition for scholarships and admission, and the level of support and encouragement one has affect those "college times" in a person 's life. An aspect of this journey that really stands out to me is the use of programs that aid first-generation college students. From the financial aid to the programs ' mentoring benefits, these programs can make a huge difference in the lives of so many people hoping to obtain the education they…
