Most people in college, especially their first year, do not know what they want to do with the rest of their life. However, for Makenna, right out of high school, she wanted to become a forensic scientist. After taking some classes first semester, she completely changed her mind about the profession she wanted to pursue. So, in her second semester, she changed her major to criminal justice. Right now, she is in a few of the courses that give an overview of what the major is like and she finds them boring and not entertaining. She also cannot picture herself being assertive enough to be a police officer. So, again, she is changing her major once more to elementary education for fall of 2016. Makenna is pretty sure that she is going to stick with teaching this time because she feels like she can relate to children and that it is the right field for her. People in early adulthood are trying to find what makes them tick, or their flow. As for Makenna, she thinks she has finally found what she wants to do with the rest of her life. Other people in emerging adulthood know exactly what they want to do with their lives. Whether that be working straight out of high school, settling down with a significant other, or furthering their education. To me, this period is all about trial and error. It is a time to find flow and happiness in
