Around 6pm to 7pm, I help my mom prepare and make dinner. There are many things that you need to do to properly prepare the food. We wash our hands with soap which is a good way to control the microbes. We also wash the vegetables, just to make sure it is clean and there is no dirt on the vegetables. Irradiation has been used on the vegetables and the spices we used, by doing this it helps destroy microbes and control the insects on the vegetables. In Arthur's paper “Famine Relief and the Ideal Moral Code” he examines Singer’s paper on moral principles, in which Singer states that all humans are on the same level of need. Thus supporting one without the resources to obtain food is always more important than buying yourself luxuries. Arthur’s rebuttal to Singer’s statement comes in the form of what Arthur calls “Just Desserts”. Arthur defines “Just Desserts” as “the idea that sometimes people deserve to keep what they have acquired” (Arthur 500). This paper will analyze Arthur's argument for just deserts, and ultimately argue that it is a viable and important variable in creating a moral code.…

Masa of Echo Park is a family run pizzeria that was established by Rob Rowe and Rhonda Reynolds in 2004. They created a menu with the idea of reflecting the diversity of the community in Echo Park, and they have certainly succeeded in putting together a varied menu of what they describe as “comfort style bistro food”. This quirky, local restaurant is famous for their Chicago style deep-dish and thin crust pizzas, pastas, fresh salads, as well as their bread puddings. Without a doubt, the atmosphere at Masa definitely reflects the vibe of the area. This is most notable in their quirky decoration with colorful plastic table clothes, wooden chairs and fireplace.…

Big questions always seem to surround food. The debate may start with simply asking how can we eat healthily, but eventually, the questions drift and somehow, we are left wondering, how can we feed the world. Working together, in a way that almost tag-teams, authors Wendell Berry and Michael Pollan establish that healthy eating surrounds the consumption of plants with the intent of being an active participant in the agriculture behind the foods we eat. Although Louise Fresco doesn’t reject their claim, she argues that fruits and vegetables are not going to end world hunger. Accordingly, she offers her own solution to this big picture question but ultimately agrees with the base of the others’ claim.…

Looking at the statuses of each school around the nation, it can clearly be stated that each school is different, however looking towards the fact that some schools lie on the same district, county, or even city can state the point that those schools have a significantly common method of running their institutions, and this one school could be the most significantly different…

On Thanksgiving I observed many instances of food safety and demonstrated food safety while preparing the food. Despite this, I did observe cases where food safety was lacking which I would not have been able to identify before our discussion in class about it. First of all, the foods that we made were turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, green beans, turnips, and macaroni. The food was prepared in a manner that was hygienic because everyone washed their hands before preparing the food.…

We are each gone all day to either work or school, so once we’re all home we eat supper together and spend a couple of hours just relaxing and watching television or something.
