The Make-A-Wish Foundation is a non-profit organization that grants wishes for children who have been diagnosed with life-threatening medical conditions. With a large amount of donors and fundraisers held by large franchises, they are able to create a dream come true for these children (Wish.org). The Make-A-Wish Foundation was founded in 1980 by Frank Shankwitz. Shankwitz was inspired to create the Make-A-Wish Foundation because a young boy named Chris Greicius had leukemia and he dreamed of being a police officer. When his family members made his wish come true on April 29, 1980, it inspired Shankwitz. Division II has been an outlet for fundraising money for Make-A-Wish since 2003 and has since then granted more than 500 wishes. Pizza Hut, is one of the many franchises that raises money for the Make-A-Wish foundation. Money is donated by customers and employees. Pizza Hut has VIP parties in which they charge a one dollar ticket price to draw, but many chose to make larger donations. Another big franchise that contributes to making donations to the Make-A-Wish Foundation is Dunkin Donuts. Dunkin Donuts has a month long campaign to raise money and awareness for the Make-A-Wish foundation. “ For every 25$ custom, “wishes DelieverD” Dunkin Donuts card purchased at DDwishesdelieverD.com, the brand will donate 1$ to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.” (Dunkin Donuts Introduces...). The Make-A-Wish Foundation is a non-profit organization so they strive to use all they money towards the wishes, but that does not always happen. “9.9% is used on fund raising, 4.6% is used on administration and as stated above, more than 85% are used to make wishes come true”
