Nationalism is the love for one’s country and the devotion to defend it at any cost. It’s complete loyalty and belief that their country is more important and better than any other. To many people it means the to stand by their leaders and fight against whoever it maybe that is threatening them. There have been many instances where nationalism is the focus of the conflict. Major conflicts where nationalism is heavily followed is the genocide of the Jews, the Holocaust, as well as World War II.

Nazism represented an extreme form of nationalism. Hitler preached to his people: "Your life is bound up with the life of your whole people. The nation is not merely the root of your strength; it is the root of your very life.”. (Konigsberg, Richard, …show more content…
It’s said that there were still parts of WWI that carried on forward to WWII. With the Nazi’s still by Hitlers side, as well as Germany supporting in every way possible, Hitler wanted Germany's old land back. Being lost due to the Treaty of Versailles, he used force to get what he wanted. Hitler ended up taking back the Rhineland's and Sudetenland. The Prime Minister of England, Neville Chamberlain, allowed Hitler to claim the lands. Hitler then took it one step further and on September 1st 1939, Hitler invaded Poland, and with it, it caused a global conflict. England and France declared war on Nazi Germany, triggering off World War 2. Nationalism becoming way more extreme during the time of World War II. Causing it to be one of the worst deadly wars.

The Holocaust and WWII shows us just how strong nationalism is in a country. People love their country and would do anything to support and serve it. Like the Holocaust people believed Hitler and his words. How he constantly stated that your country before you. And that your country over anything else. Also in WWII Hitler, still being present, he did everything he could with his Nazi’s to gain power for Germany. Both, the Holocaust and WWII are perfect examples of how nationalism lived on during those times in
