Marriage is defined; the legally recognized union of a man and woman as partners in a relationship. Even with this definition in place describing what marriage should be, does this means that the two people that are getting married have to be in love? This statement should imply the excluding of gay or lesbian couples even getting married. The views from around the world on gay marriage and marriage in general are vastly different. Marriage comes with a sense of commitment, it comes with a vow stronger than any other made by two people pledging themselves to each other in all aspects for the rest of their lives. Everyone has their own view of the important characteristics of a successful marriage. There are six important characteristics that can be used as pillar to build a solid foundation to a great union. Commitment; divorce is not considered an option by two individuals who realize that marriages do take work sacrifice and loyalty on boths sides. . Communication; there should be a comprehensive openness and through understanding about the opinions and feelings of both partners in a committed relationship. Common interests; two people in a relationship devoted to one another should have some of the same likes and dislikes, shared values, morals and interests, this will keep the bond of their relationship strong. Trust; assurance in their partner, and faith in their decisions will provide a stable authority for security for an relationship to thrive on. Also sexual intimacy; two people have to be physically attracted to one another, and confident in their partner if they want to enjoy their marriage to its fullest. Most people think great marriages just come naturally, but great marriages are actually made with the consistent effort from two people should who really love each other. More people should treasure and value the importance of their marriages and their sacred vows, and there would be more happier married couples. Life has ups and downs, but also keeps us moving in different directions, and keeps us moving closer and closer to whatever it has in store for us all. Any marriage has to adapt to spontaneity, and contains sacrifice, but this also means that changing our ways for the best interest of a marriage showcases what more and more individuals should
