Magwitch Compassion

Decent Essays
A trait I really want to have is the same level of compassion Magwitch has. In chapter 1, Magwitch demanded food and scared Pip to death. Magwitch also took all the blame for Pip when he got caught in chapter 5, he could have sold out Pip with nothing to loose. Now, he came back and talked about how every time he earned money he thought of how it was Pip's, or every time he struggled, he thought how Pip would not have to, (Chapter 38-39). Magwitch owed Pip, but not to this extent. Without knowing him, Magwitch treated Pip like a son, and thought all his hard work was for Pip's benefit. The author JRR.Tolkien may consider traits positive and may consider some negative. He likes when people have characteristics that are nice and have manners that if they do something they will fix it and just not being mean. He dislikes people that have characteristics that are unmannerly and mean and abusive and just hateful. Well I consider being intelligent may be more important because just running into a dangerous place without knowing what to do is not very smart because that person could die ,but if you thought through with a plan and played out the plan you have a better chance of surviving. Tolkien enjoys having polite and kind people instead of having mean and rude people because in the novel he gives the main characters nice and…

My parents have always challenged me to strive to do my best since I was a child. From pushing me to learn how to ride a bike at age five, to striving me to achieve a higher ACT score to attend the college I love, I learned how to become very independent and credible. As I approached my high school years, I changed mentally by creating a positive mindset after my freshman year. As to this day, getting a 3.11-grade point average has affected me in both positive and negative ways. One characteristic that I figured out about myself is that I am a person who learns from mistakes due to the fact that I am a tactile learner.…

Pip feels he had gotten what he need from Miss Havisham all the answer to Estella and the money for Herbert. But the book shows that Pip has a heart even if Miss Havisham did and made Estella not have a heart. Pip went back in the house to save Miss Havisham from the fire. Finally, I personally feel that this incident reinforced the novel’s theme that bad behavior can be redeemed by remorse and sympathy. Also no matter how cruel someone can be to a person, they will still be nice to you.…

I believe I will fit in perfectly at Calvin, because my goal is to put God first. Putting God first, for me, mainly means enthusiasm: enthusiasm for God, enthusiasm for life and learning, and enthusiasm for others. Colossians 3:23 says, “Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than men.” I try my best to live by this statement daily, no matter where I am or what mood I am in. Enthusiasm for God is the most important trait I can think of.…
