The plot of the story is very intricate with its rise and fall of action as well as its multiple smaller climaxes besides the main climax. The story begins with assigning Heyward the mission to reunite the two girls Cora and Alice with their father at Fort William Henry, and with the aid of Magua as their guide. Heyward’s party runs into Hawkeye’s and they join forces but it is found that Magua is a traitor when he has lead Heyward astray. The men stage an unsuccessful attempt to capture Magua, but he was alert and he broke into a sprint when his suspicions were confirmed and he caused a chase and a shot from Hawkeye’s rifle. The occupants of the fort were then brutally murdered by a large party of Hurons that had planned the attack with the French letting Magua use the chaos to kidnap both Alice and Cora again. This event is part of the rising action, but also serves as another fluctuation in the level of action. The action rises when the people come out of the fort and start their journey,but it then climaxes when the Hurons suddenly release a vicious assault on the unarmed people. The action falls when the attack comes to an end after the people are killed, but the protagonist’s group still survives and the small conflict ends with the two girls being captured. Later, in the story one of the Mohicans named Uncas escapes his captivity by speaking with the Delaware sage Tamenund, and he was freed by showing his Delaware descent in the form of a tattoo and his name, which was the same as Tamenund’s grandfather. Once Uncas is freed the party gets ready and sets out in pursuit of Magua, and they defeat a band of attacking Hurons and Hawkeye as well as Uncas find Magua on the opposite side of a ledge. Uncas clears the ledge, but he is too late as another Huron stabs Cora. This causes Uncas to go into rage and murder the other Huron, but he is stabbed by Magua as he
