Magnetic Field Lab

Improved Essays
The purpose of this experiment is to measure magnitude and direction of the Earth’s Magnetic Field where by modeling it as a bar magnetic a first order approximation can be obtained. In general, the South magnetic pole is located close to the Earth’s North geographical pole whereas the North Pole is located close to the Earth’s South geographical pole. It should also be noted that a magnetic field is also known as a vector field for the reason being that it has a local direction and magnitude and if locations are changed so is the magnetic field. The magnetic field can be broken into two parts which are the Horizontal component that points parallel with the Earth’s surface and the vertical which points perpendicular. North to South is the direction

For many years as a devoted Police Officer, I dreamed of coming up with an invention that would not only save my life in dangerous situations, but save the lives of other police officer while serving and protecting the citizens of the United States. I came up with the invention of a Force Field Indicator. The Force Field Indicator is made out special fibers, heart sensors and custom fit to the shape of military, or officer vest. This device would be able to deploy when an officer heart rate reaches a certain level.…

In the 1930s, the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) lands were used to establish Aboriginal communities in Southern Australia. Unfortunately, this area has a limited amount of available water with a majority of the communities' water coming from boreholes in deep fractured rocks. Additionally, these communities supplement these wells with collecting rainfall, but the APY lands receive infrequent rains with high rainfall events making it difficult to rely on rainfall alone [1]. To helps sustain these communities, GeoScientist Without Borders used geophysical tooling to locate groundwater resources.…

Pager’s field experiment was conducted as follows: a group of young college men posing as high school graduates with limited work experience were asked to submit job applications. There were four main groups: white with a criminal background, black with a criminal background, white with no criminal background, black with no criminal background. Men with similar characteristics were matched together as to limit the amount of extraneous variables, or variables that produce an undesirable influence on the variables being observed by the examiner. The goal of the experiment was to observe how race and being…

From the percent difference I can conclude that neither surface area, surface texture, nor mass of block has that big of an impacted on the friction. The higher the percent difference is the more effect friction would have on it, with the lower percent difference says it wouldn’t affect friction. For surface area testing side A against side B on smooth sliding for percent difference was60.78%, over half (50%) but not by much. For weight off sandpaper the difference was only 40.00%, where on sandpaper it went up to 45.71%. Still less than half meaning it does not have much effect on the level of friction on the block of wood.…

Intuitively we know that the size of an object can have a significant impact on its dynamics. We have seen athletes or animals creating moves beyond our imagination, as shown in Fig. 4.1. This is because their ability in manipulating different parts of their bodies in creating dynamic complexities shown in the images. Certainly we would not be able to ignore the role played by each part of the body if we were to analyze the dynamics of an extended object. However, there is one point, associated with the geometric mean center of the mass distribution of an extended system, known as the center of mass, always behaves like a point particle as if all the external forces, and the mass of the entire system, are on that point.…
