“On page 5, it says magnets have the power to attract some kinds of metals” (Visual Classroom n.d., p. 2). Remember that items are metal are attracted to the magnet therefore they will pull towards the magnet which items that are not metal will repelled or push away from the magnet.

Have them predict if an item from the bag will be attracted or repelled to the magnet and why using the think-pair-share strategy. Have them record their predictions in a graphic organizer. Once each group has finished the activity have one person from each group present their predictions to the whole class as you write them on the board. Then give each group a giant magnet to test
