In the second grade, it was the first time I realized that I had the potential to do great things. My teacher, Mrs. Wazidali, saw something that no other teacher saw. She immediately spoke to my parents and informed them that I should be placed into the magnet program because the current curriculum was not challenging enough for me. I was given the choice to either stay or to be placed in the program. I said yes, and that was when my journey started. Ever since then, I have been going through my academic years with demanding classes and my extracurricular activities. Consequently, everyone wonders and asks me, “Judith, how were you able to excel in all your advanced placement classes, be captain of the swimming and water polo team, be the parliamentarian …show more content…
I have been thoroughly blessed throughout my life, and I can’t help but be gracious. Also in the second grade, I entered a program called the National Girls Ministries. In this program, I was taught on what the Lord wants from me, which is to trust Him in all that I do and to praise Him through the trials and tribulations. What no one knows is that I have had my downfalls. But the reason I can keep my head up is due to faith and the trust that I have learned to have from my church and the National Girls Ministries. Even now in college, being the Vice President of the Student Government Association, an Honors College Student, a Millennium Fellow, a Part-Time Lifeguard, and a mentor in the National Girls Ministries, the only reason I am still pushing forward and excelling in all that I do is not because of my own doing. What I believe is important to me and demonstrates the type of person I am. I cannot think of how I could possibly be in all that I am if it weren’t for the strength that I get from my faith. In my times of trouble, I know I can run to the Lord, fall down to my knees, and pray with all my soul, knowing that He hears my cry and will come and rescue

It all started in senior year of high school, a moment where, because of my lack of effort at certain times of my teenage life, I was left with very few options regarding where I could go pursue my education after graduating high school. It is important to emphasize that although I wasn’t sure what exactly I was capable of, I was sure that I was capable of great things and high school failed to inspire me to become the best person I could be. I was disoriented yet self-assured. Luckily, thanks to some thoughtful people who guided me in the right moment, I was able to get in to the Macklin Business Institute at Montgomery College and I was given the opportunity to try out and get recruited to play for MC soccer team. The experiences that followed…

As the Selection Committee is reviewing my application, I do not believe I have ever been at a disadvantage of any sort, but I do believe there are factors that set me off from other applicants. Standing under the familiar radiant heat, the gentle glow on my skin reminded me of the many summers I spent being complacent in Washington. However, surrounding me were kids from numerous families who knew nothing about complacency. They were always moving, always multitasking, and always working; I wondered how migrant farm worker families coped with such a restless lifestyle compared to mine. For the past four summers, I traveled with the St. Anthony Parish youth group on mission trips. Most recently, I spent the last two summers in Bellingham serving the migrant farm worker communities through the Agape Mission program.…

I’ll never forget the moments of watching all my friends being able to go to the playground and enjoy themselves as I would have to walk to a different classroom to my ESOL class. ESOL was an English practicing class, it allowed for students that knew very few English and was a method for us to learn and practice our English. Towards the end of the class as we all headed back from recess, or in my case from ESOL I would have a short time to speak and talk to my friends, and they would always ask about my whereabouts. I would try to explain to them exactly where I was and what I would be doing, and I knew that they did not fully comprehend me, yet I still tried. I would attend my ESOL class all throughout the third grade, by the beginning of…

In the seventh grade, I faced a large transition in life. The previous year I had experienced middle school for the first time, but I would make that entrance again. I moved from Texas to North Dakota, where seventh grade was the first year of middle school. I took on those same fears and hopes that I had faced before, but in an unfamiliar place where I had no one except for family to give me support. I tried a lot of new things that year, mainly wrestling.…

We must be encouraged to persevere in our faith and in life. This means we need to live Godly lives; proclaiming God’s word to our friends, honoring our mothers and fathers, living as good citizens and remaining pure until marriage, just to name a few. The author explains that he doesn’t want us as Christians to abandon or doubt our Christian faith just because of issues we may be dealing with in our community or school. The authors’ readers experience the same basic social issues for their Faith as you may; being excluded from certain friend groups, being gossiped about or slandered and in some cases even their livelihoods were…
