Magna Carta And The American Revolution

259 Words 2 Pages
The Magna Carta was a document inspired by English civilians to combat the increasing oppresion of their rights due to an all-powerful monarch. Similarly, in American history we also see this trend in the American Revolution. The American people were tired of their rights having to be controlled by a monarch and Parliament in which they had no representation and revolted. In the aftermath of their uprising, they drafted numerous documents in attempts to prevent an absolute monarchial system as seen in Europe leading to the creation of the Constitution. A look at the Constitution shows that many of its fundamental ideas are derived from the Magna Carta itself such as the Bill of Rights.
