Magic X-Ray Machine

Say “No” Once a Day
Although we are eliciting the Interpersonal client’s strengths to our advantage, these participants may also become entrenched in other people’s problems which inturn avoids their own struggles. The Just Say No (Selekman & Beyebach, 2013) experiment gives participants the chance to put their personal needs before the needs of others.
Participant as an Expert Consultant
For clients in the Precontemplation or Contemplation stages of change, we may employ them as the expert consultant for another student’s session. When appropriate, this experiment can help the participant to feel as though they can offer their own expert advice. Similar to timeline-making activities, it’s important to debrief by asking the participant what they could take away from experience.
