To answer this question, we used paper chromatography to identify the dyes in blue, orange, and green Skittles Sweets and Sours candy and Crayola Washable Markers. In this paper chromatography experiment, the mixture to be separated was spotted 1.5 centimeters from the bottom of chromatography paper, which was then dipped in the solvent, a 0.1 percent salt solution. The conditions for factory workers during the Industrial revolution were awful. These conditions were dangerous to an extreme because of different jobs like having to change the bobbins while the machine is still running because there is no way to really turn it off, plus the bosses would most likely never allow it to be turned off because the production levels would go down. This being said, not only was it unsafe, there were to benefits of any sort; No workers comp, breaks, vacation days, sick days, not really a lunch break, no cafeteria to even think about eating unless you brought something, and long 12-14 hour days. There were no standards to be followed at the time, so safety was not an issue that factory owners had to worry about. This made the conditions for factory workers…

For my Independent Research project I chose to figure out which brand of paper towel absorbed the most amount of water. I had four brands of towel to choose from and these were: Kleenex, Handee, Sorbent and Coles Ultra. I tested the absorbency of these towels by placing them in water and figuring how much was left in a bowl after I had taken the towels out, the remaining water was later weighed. The paper towels were first weighed to find out how heavy each of the towels were and then this amount was added to the water left in the bowl. This experiment took around 30 minutes for each result as I had to clean all the equipment to make the test as fair as I could.…

It was a crisp sunny morning, peering out the kitchen window I could see Blackbirds perched on frosty roof tiles, these were accompanied by steam being vented with regularity from the neighbours central heating, it was the first proper winters day we have had. The multitude of different mugs rattled away as I hastily liquidised a loaf of bread before setting about to tinker with my cheese paste mixture. The rivers were likely to still be coloured and I wanted to try and create a slight clouding effect, so whilst mixing a new batch of the blue krill paste I included a liberal helping of powdered milk, the idea being that this would leak off a creamy textured cloud and prove alluring to any inquisitive chub. A healthy flask of coffee was soon stashed away and I was eventually ready to make my way to the riverbank for a mornings chub searching. It was brilliantly sunny and it did not take long for the rod blank and eyes to start freezing up at regular intervals.…
