Madonna was born on August 16, 1958 at 7:05 A.M at Mercy Hospital in Bay City, Michigan. Her mother was Madonna Louise Ciccone and her father was Silvio Ciccone. Madonna come from a big family of 7 siblings. Her father was a design engineer. Madonna’s childhood was great, at least until age 5. Her mother had passed at age 31 from cancer when Madonna was only 5."I think the biggest reason I was able to express myself and not be intimidated was by not having a mother," she says. In New York she worked with several different dance companies and music producers but never thought that any of them were right for her. She even tried out for the film Footloose, but did not make cuts. Madonna did not cry nor pout she just kept on acting and dancing. Madonna says that New York helped her become tough and that not making cuts made helped her work harder and showed her that nothing is easy.
