I went to the Dallas Art of Museum on November 26, 2016, at 1:45 pm, which is located in Dallas, TX. I saw many different paintings in the art gallery. Among them, my favorite artwork was “Madonna and Child and St. Jerome”, which was created by Il Garofalo (1481-1559). This artwork was painted in 15th century. I could not take off my eyes from this painting as it was very beautiful and attractive to me. This painting was one of the famous artworks in the history of European Art, and it was termed as an oil on panel.
In this artwork, Garofalo has drawn the pictures of Madonna and her baby with Saint Jerome. Madonna is carrying her baby and Saint Jerome is holding a book in his right hand. The child is pointing his finger towards the book and Jerome is

The window in the painting is not completely covered by the curtain and the open spaces on both right and left sides of the window shows the beauty of the nature. Those open spaces acts as the source of light in this artwork. This painting has both variety and unity. Unity lies in the color, which is the primary color blue. The clothes of the Madonna, sky, and the mountains are painted with blue color. Also, primary color red is utilized in the dresses of both Madonna and Jerome. Moreover, there is great variety in this work between shapes, colors, and lines. For instance, there are many organic shapes scattered over the painting such as the shapes of human beings, trees, and lion. Trees are present on the background of the painting, which can be seen on the both left and right sides of the painting. Similarly, lion is drawn on the lower right side of the painting and is painted with secondary color brown. Different kinds of colors are used in this painting such as secondary color green on the tress, and dark brown color in the curtains. The artist has utilized geometrical shapes to draw the

Because of the title of this work we know that depicted are the Christ child carried by the Virgin Mary with a female saint embracing the child along with Saint John the Baptist as an infant to the right. Titian placed the figures in a pyramidal structure around the Christ Child so that one’s eye focuses on the Christ Child. In addition, although Saint John the Baptist is not physically in contact with the other three figures, his strong exchange glance at the child brings him together. Work seems balanced since the Virgin Mary, the female saint and Saint John the Baptist all look toward the Christ Child. In this painting, Tiziano Vecellio…

This draws the eye into a new work of art. The colors on Anguissola’s pallet and in her painting are the brightest colors in Self-portrait at the Easel. This shows Anguissola’s ability to paint other scenarios beautifully instead of her typical depictions of herself and her family. The Madonna resembles Anguissola in the light-neutral skin tone with hints of red around the cheeks and the hair color. Even Madonna’s hairstyle is similar to Anguissola’s with the thin braid wrapping around her head, almost like a halo.…

She is embracing with her right arm an infant (John the Baptist), who is slightly larger than the other infant (Christ) in the painting. The variety of patterns in this composition, including several floral designs and the bold stripes of the woman’s dress is united by a restrained palette of grays and mauves. The soft coloration allows the viewer to concentrate on the subject of the scene- the close relationship between mother and child. Their intimacy is demonstrated by their closely positioned faces and by the circle of touch that extends from the woman’s hand on the child’s foot to the child’s hand to the woman’s knee. In this work, Cassatt evoked the traditional artistic subject matter of the Madonna and Child, making her imagery rather secular then…

Each person depicted in the painting, especially those in the foreground, are each wearing clothes that have different hues, such as the Virgin is wearing blue while the Saint John is wearing red. The colors of each of their clothing are quite intense adding to the energy of the scene. There is also a mix of warm and cool tones throughout the painting, which adds the disorder of the painting. Virgin and Child Enthroned, was painted in the Thirteenth century, at time that everything was explained through the church, and peoples spirituality, were incredibly important. So in Thirteenth Century paintings, the holy figures were meant to make you feel small, they even painted Christ as a small man, to respect his role. This way of thinking was extinguished when the plague hit, and afterwards, people started to focus on things other than the church, the human experience. Thus there was a revival of ancient philosophy, and art of the Greeks and Romans. Humanism, a philosophy surrounding the human experience, and the beauty of earth, influenced Renaissance art.…

This is an altarpiece, placed behind the altar table where people kneel to pray. The artist utilizes several shades of gray and brown, which provides a certain serenity. There is also some shades of red and orange which offers balance and counteracts a dismal appearance.…
