Madi Mullinger As we watched TV suddenly the phone started to ring. “Answer the phone, Megan!” I shouted not peeling my eyes off the screen. Megan started yelling excitingly we all knew something was up. “Megan what’s going on?” Malorie asked. “We might be getting a puppy!” Megan responded. Eight years ago my siblings and I have begged our parents to get another puppy. As my mom was shopping at Costco my sister, Mary-Kate, and her friend, Kelsey, walked over to Jack’s Aquarium and pets to look at dogs for fun. While they were there they found brother and sister dogs that were super cheap. Mary- Kate called my mom and told her that she had found adorable dogs. My mom walked over to the pet store and agreed with my sister so the called us at home to come down and bring money to buy the puppy. My mom will tell you that she …show more content…
We finally arrived to the pet store and fell out of the car and started to run into the shop. We raced to the back only to find a little tiny puppies in big cages and some even so little they were falling through. The tiniest one was in Mary-Kate’s arms. “She’s so little!” I exclaimed loudly.
“How big do you think she is?” Megan asked my mom.
“Not more than 5lbs.” my mom quickly answered.
We all agreed on getting the one Mary-Kate had in her arms and brought her home. When we first got home she was just a tiny puppy in a big house with 6 kids crowded around her and another big dog. We debated all night what we should name her because we wanted her to have the same initials as us girls because she was a girl as well. We had a long list of names such as, Misty, Maggie, Muffin, and Macy. We ended up naming her Macy Kelsey Mullinger. During the first night we had her all of us wanted to play with her and there were defiantly fights over who got to hold her, but still to this day we fight over who she likes the most and wants to play

Rough Draft We walked down the aisle passing by cage after cage, listening to the deafening sound of hundreds of dogs barking. Cheryl, the vintner coordinator, tried to tell us about some of the dogs, but with the amount of noise all we could do was nod and pretend like we understood. I kept my eyes open for dogs that would be fun to walk after our orientation. And out of the corner of my eye I saw a ghost of a dog.…

When 3:00 p.m. rolled around and it was time to go back to the place that she once knew as home, that was when everything was different. This, as I can now see, may have been the reason as to why my parents put off owning a dog. In 2012 came my family's big move from England to America. Before the move, I had been promised that a year after we had settled into our new home in Pennsylvania, I would receive a puppy. The promise gave me a sense of hope, leading me to regularly check local breeders and occasionally the local pounds.…
