This is the reason this has got so out of hand. Teens dealing with everything all by themselves because they fear or no one helps. Teens rely on each other and somewhere along the line turn on each other for a reason or another and that is when everything goes down. Something interesting at Madera High that was pointed out by Martinez was that most of the bullying occurred between friends or acquaintances, not so much strangers. The anonymous response says a lot about teen’s thinking. Teens believe they can handle and just ignore everything, but that is not always the case and even if one went to a staff member at Madera High there is no procedure when dealing with harassment/bullying issues. Fernandez as well as Martinez assured that now in day it is mainly all done through social media, but the trend before was “he said”, “she said.” The changes from now to 10 years ago was more gossip. For example, “I heard this person saying this and this, and were laughing,” now it’s all directly to the face where one can read it on social media. So it is gender based, most commonly involving more females. Currently the primary multimedia that is most common to subject would be Snapchat, where one can screenshot something, a picture, and show others. Maybe something that might have been private or just for a specific person or just simply sent by mistake to the incorrect person. Although Snapchat was created to be removed after 24 hours, a screenshot stays forever. Anything put out in any social media will always be there
