I would like to have the husband as a friend in the story, “The Necklace”. His wife, Madame Mathilde Loisel was very unhappy because she was part of the lower class. Loisel’s husband came home one night with an invitation to a dinner party. The invitation had upset Loisel because she did not have an evening dress or jewelry to wear. The husband was so thrilled to go to the dinner party he was willing to buy her a simple dress for four hundred frances. That money was being saved for the husband to buy a rifle for the following summer. The husband had set aside what he had wanted and focused on what would make Loisel happy.
