In A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens, the good will of the French citizens expressed in the French revolution are overshadowed by Madame Defarge’s dark past. Madame Defarge may have been an innocent, and cheerful girl, that is, until her whole family was gruesomely, and cruelly slaughter by the twin aristocrats, the Evrémonde twins. Unprepared for their death she would have been in grief, and shock, however, it did a double take with Madame Defarge. Her hate for the Evrémonde became the power that took a turn for the worse, and resulted in a promise to avenge her family, and to end the Evrémonde family tree. To act like how I was supposed behave like a good girl, or student as people labeled me. To set an example for my brother who was already sucked deeper into the dark vortex of the digital world. Despite all these expectations, and warnings from my family there was still something about being online that appealed to me. It was like calling out to me saying, “Play with me it, just one more game. You know you want to,” taunting me to take on the challenge. Before I knew it I was hooked and, the day had already gone by, and it was nine o’clock. I did not eat, move, or even respond when I was questioned. I had only started homework after playing to my heart’s content but it did not stop and the hunger of gaming, and only strengthened as days past.
My mother had foresaw this happening, and pronounced that we were not allowed to use the internet until we finish our homework. My brother did not care and continued to play, but I still did not realize she was doing this for our own good. It was a miracle that my mother noticed before, and ended up being the golden thread that led me back to the right path. Everything was how it was supposed to be, however, I was the only one
