Madam C.J. Walker was born December 23,1869, near Delta , Louisiana. In 1890s Sarah Breedlove developed a scalp disorder that caused her to lose much of her hair. She started experimented with hair care treatments and home remedies. In 1905 she was hired as a commission agent so she moved to Denver, Colorado. As soon as she touched down in Denver she started creating advertisements for hair care treatments for African Americans , her husband also helped and encourage her every step of the way.

In 1907 her and her husband traveled around the South and Southeast to promote her products and giving lectures demonstrations of her “Walker Method”. Her husband suggested she change her name to a more recognizable name . That's how she became
