George Miller's Mad Max Fury Road has proven there is still hope for summer blockbusters. Even though it has been over 3 decades since Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, the movie doesn't falter. In fact, since it has had 3 decades to hone and refine itself; Fury Road is better than its predecessors. The fantastical, gritty Mad Max has more depth than a surface analysis would expect. The choreography, directing, style, plot, acting and effects all combine together to create a masterpiece, or at the very least a very well put together action movie.
The director and screenwriter George Miller has spent 30 years getting ready for this movie and it shows. The main concept of a water scarce deserted wasteland was very convincing. The theme is so convincing

The villains in the movie are very loud but it fits the over the top setting. While the protagonists in the film rarely yell or even speak. The relationship between each one is real and they react as their character would lead you to believe they should. Some of the smaller villains in the movie added a lot to the movie because it made the world feel a lot bigger and it reinforced that the world really is a desolate wasteland and that most of the people have become savages.
The sound in the movie is overall very good and is appropriate for each of the scene’s moods . But there is a point in the movie where it is hilariously good. During a large car chase one of the trucks has a warboy playing a double neck guitar and the music he plays turns into the music of the entire scene. And the costumes in Mad Max are some of the best I’ve ever seen. They really sell to the viewer that it's a crazy world.
From Cannibals, bullet farmers ,outcasts, to warlords, each costume fits their role well. None look repetitive and you can tell what side they are on and what class/rank they hold. And as they travel to different areas like swamps and mountains, the costumes change as
