The 1893 Chicago World's Fair was one that the rest of the world thought would fail, but America knew it would be the greatest of all time. No one really thought Chicago could outdo Paris and the Eiffel Tower; all the odds were against America hosting the World's Fair. Allowing America did not know where the 1893 World's Fair was going to be, Chicago, St. Louis, Washington, and New York all put bids in to have the fair in their city. In February 1890 it was announced that Chicago would be the host of the World's Fair. Chicago was still developing socially and economically after the great fire in 1871, just 22 years earlier.…
Seeing people together, just how it was in CicLAvia where there was no discrimination nor hate. Witnessing that is rare to witness and cherish that moment. In our class, Chicanos Studies, we learn about how people in the past hated and discriminated each other and is still going on today. People in the event were nice and were not judging anyone on what they were wearing while riding a bike. They were many weird things we saw in the event like an almost naked man sing on the bridge, yet people were not yelling at the man.…
Buffalo, NY is the second most populated city after New York City. It sits on the shores of Lake Erie in the western part of the state, and at the head of the Niagara River. The residents of the city are called Buffalonians. Every month, whether it's summer or winter, it's a city that has plenty for cheap city breaks in Buffalo. Whether it's Ice Biking at Canalside in the winter or the Niagara Wine Trail in the summer, visitors looking for city breaks in Buffalo will have plenty of choices when they visit.…
Growing up in Brooklyn, in the early 90’s was one of the best experiences in my life. I remember the ice cream trucks, corner stores, fire hydrates being opened for the kids especially when there was a block party but most of all, the unity of families and neighbors. Many people will say “Brooklyn, only the strong survive” and I have lived by that phrase my entire life. It showed me the beauty of living in one of the boroughs that makes up New York City and has taught me to be a strong person. It’s not made for the weak.…
They brought it all to life. At the Festival there are people that do really get into it the play the part and dress up. It is almost like comic con for medieval times. I think the next time I go back will be with my family. Most likely on a non-busy weekend when want to get out of the house.…
I felt you’re mad at me about what I said and you took my words into the wrong way. I apologize for what I said earlier, I truly didn’t mean to hurt your feelings. I hope you’re not mad at me because I was joking about it. In all honesty you’re a special person in my life. Although I’m not in yours but that’s…
On April 13, 2018, I went to the theme park Disneyland for its first time ever an event called Pixar Fest. Pixar Fest is located at 1313 Disneyland Railroad, Anaheim, CA 92802. I was at Disneyland from 11am-12am. Pixar Fest “Together Forever - A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular” occurred during night time at 9:30 pm. Pixar Fest is an event that happened throughout the entire Disneyland Park, whereas everything was decorated with logos saying “Pixar Fest” and there was a lot of Pixar characters.…
“V-J Day in Times Square” by Alfred Eisenstaedt (1945) is a picture well-known across the United States and possibly as well as in other countries. People see the photo as romantic and impassioned, showing love during a time of celebration. However, some also believe this public display of affection could possibly be sexual assault. During this time in the photo, people were gathering and celebrating over the announcement from the president that Japan had surrendered and they have won the war. It was a moment of celebration taken too far by the sailor.…
Parade Critique Ball State University Department of Theatre and Dance’s production of Parade shows the story of the Trial of Leo Frank, a Jew convicted of murdering a thirteen-year old girl, Mary Phagan. The white southerners in the show convict him guilty of murdering Mary. They do not have any evidence of convicting him guilty though. The convict him because he is Jew. This trial shows how racial discrimination is the overall them of the story.…
Vietnamese/Chinese New Year! The diversity of our country is surreal. No matter where each culture came from, they were able to bring their home to their new home – the United States. I was completely enamored with the Vietnamese/Chinese New Year celebration at the St. Andrew Dung Lac Catholic church’s event center, which also doubled as a Catholic bible school on Saturdays.…

Throughout the diverse history New York has been the home of many talented and famous people. Also during the 20th century more than 3 million people started immigrating to NYC due to its landmarks.…
Cultural Event Paper Leaning about different varieties of cultural events is a pretty phenomenal way of looking at life. You get to experience the way things were centuries ago and learn whom, what, where, and how it all came about. When I found out that I had to find a local cultural place around my area in town, I was a bit skeptical, due to the fact that I not yet ever seemed to witness a place that is historical other than a museum. But I wanted to branch out further and find a really cool historical place than just a museum. And so I found a very remarkable place called “Old Orlando Railroad Depot.”…
A Bird’s Eye View of the Gender Specific Parade Day Experience The following reports on the behavior of female University of Scranton student’s interactions and behaviors during the Saint Patrick’s Day Parade festivities, relative to their male counterparts. Reader discretion is highly advised. This study was conducted from the not so structurally sound observational deck of an old apartment’s…
It was really fun, and we had won a stuffed animal as a prize. We also rode a couple of rides, and we had walked around to look at…
NEW YORK CITY! You know, when I see New York City, there’s a lot that goes on there. Fast-food restaurants, overpriced sporting events at the Madison Square Garden, and not to mention the millions of people that maybe from an aerial shot look like tiny ants working within their colony. I’m excited to be there and it never gets boring when I go to the same food spots there. The adrenaline rush from walking through a train station that lies in front of one of the largest buildings in the world with the Freedom Tower.…
