This is the story of Macy McNeer. The girl who aspired to be an engineer.
Macy sat in class as quiet as can be thinking, “What type of inventions interests me?”
She thought of different inventions and came up with a plan. Excited about her visions, she ran home and began. Macy looked around her home, searching for pieces.
She looked everywhere even the creases.
Alone in her room, she worked late into the night. Putting things together, it seemed to be right. She created gadgets to show Uncle Lance, from rocket shoes to helium pants.

She combined her old rocket shoes and helium pants, thinking, “This is something that is much more enhanced”.
She worked until the sun was almost gone. Then she dragged her contraption across the lawn.
She screamed, “Grandma Fran look what I made you, it’s in the yard!”
Complementing Macy’s creation, she wanted to see a demonstration.
Macy put the pants to show them off, she flipped the switch and flew around.
She flew for a moment until it gave out and headed towards the ground.
She then heard laughter and turned around to see Grandma Fran was slapping her knee.
In embarrassment and shame, Macy sat on the floor.
Fran said, “It’s the perfect first try. Who could expert more? The trial is over and now it’s time for the next.”
Macy looked at her grandma very perplexed.
Macy said, “But I failed don’t you see. It’s all made of trash, and that’s why it crashed.”
Fran replied, “Yes that is true, but at first it did what it needed to do; it FLEW!”
“Trust me Macy Mcneer, if you keep trying you will become a great engineer. Life has its failures, but this was not it; The only true failure comes if you quit.”
