A lot of artist use pathos, logos, and ethos in their music everyday to explain a argument. The “Other Side” by Macklemore has a lot of logos in his lyrics as he described how his friend Pimp C was killed by over dose of the purple drank a.k.a lean when he says, “ thinking he might of sipped just a little bit too much of the cough syrup.” He also argues that this drink is very addictive and is influencing our youth. Lean is a addictive cough syrup(promethazine) mixed with sprite that most rappers drink. He uses pathos with the beat, because it gives you a feeling that something bad happened. Macklemore doesn’t uses a lot of ethos in this song but some are when he explains the consequences he has been through by being addicted to these drugs. In Macklemore’s lyrics he explain to us that it’s so easy to get addicted to this drug(lean) without having consequences immediately. Macklemore uses more logos when he says, “Asked him what he was sipping on.” Pimp C responds, “lean, you want to hit dawg?” Then Macklemore says, “thats the same stuff Lil Wayne sipping huh” Macklemore also adds a line, “Us as rappers underestimate the power and the effects that we have on these kids.” In those four lines he shows the logic of how he was once that kid that was influence by a rapper to drink the drug lean. After he explains how the drug has become more popular and more addictive to our youth when he spits, “months later the use went up, every blunt was accompanied by the pink stuff.” All these examples show logos, because he is telling us our youth is trying this …show more content…
The way the beat is made gives you this sad or depressing feel, because he uses pianos and the beat is very soft. That explains that he is hurt about how this drug killed his friend that he was really close too. He also explains another emotional appeal when he spits, “syrup, Percocet, and an eighth a day will leave you broke, depressed, and emotionally

This dark and aggressive song, by Big Pun, promotes the idea of revenge, retribution and ruthlessness. It includes endless lines of pure violence and harsh messages written in breathtaking poetry, that is powerful enough to completely possess an individual’s attention. Big Pun is without a doubt lyrically gifted, but the morals and ethics he is advocating are troublesome for modern society. He describes murder as something he is born to do, essentially spreading the idea that he is good at it and proud. In addition to this, he raps about emotions of remorse being a negative thing, teaching people that “feeling bad” for others is not a desirable attitude.…

According to Aristotle, logos is an appeal to logic, and is a way of persuading an audience by reason. Obama goes back and states facts, statistics and historical events where he had been successful as president. Obama does this to persuade the audience to continue his successes and to fight equal rights. He does this by listing several statistics on inequality, for example, “ Health care costs are rising at the slowest rate in 50 years. And I’ve said, and I mean it, anyone can put together a plan that is demonstrably better than the improvements we’ve made to our health care system, that covers as many people at less cost, I will publicly support it.”…
