Machu picchu History
Machu Picchu which is called Old mountain is 7,875 ft is located in Urubamba Valley in Peru ( northwest coast of Cusco) and also called "The Lost City of the Incas" It symbolizes the Inca Empire. Machu Picchu are assembled around AD 1400 but it became famous for tourist in 1911 because of the American historian Hiram Bingham. In this history, Machu Picchu was asserted a Peruvian Historical Sanctuary in 1981 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983. It has been considered culturally important place since Spanish conquered the Incas. Bingham completed his studies about Machu picchu and named "The Lost City of the Incas.’ He searched Vitcos in 1911, and Quechuans led him the citadel. These people were living in Machu Picchu. Some of their families outlived in Machu Picchu in 1911, but many people died during the city construction. In 1901, Simone Waisbard, who is a researcher of Cusco, demanded that Enrique Palma, Gabino Sanchez, and Agustin Lizarraga left their names carved on one rock(Franklin) at Machu Picchu to show that they discovered it. One engineer found it and told Thomas Paine about it..In 1906, Paine and a missionary named Stuart E McNairn went up to the historic spots. In 1913 after the National Geographic Society devoted their April problem to Machu Picchu, the site became publicity. In 1981, an area of surrounding Machu Picchu was proclaimed a "Historical Sanctuary" of Peru. this area includes a large portion of the regional landscape, rich with flora and fauna. Moreover, in 1983, Machu Picchu was pointed as a World Heritage Site which are an absolute masterpiece of architecture and a unique testimony to the Inca civilization. In 2007, Machu Picchu was voted as New Open World Corporation's New Seven,and became Watch List of the 100 Most Endangered Sites in the world in 2008 because of tourism and the effects of environment
