Aside from plows, some of the most influential developments in machinery, occured between the 1800’s to the late 1900’s. Some of these changes include enhanced tractors, improved seed planters and fertilizers, invention of the combine, and better harvesting techniques in general. The invention of the steam powered tractor provided farmers with a power source that did not depend on animals. By the year 1900, there were about five-thousand steam tractors being constructed annually.
