Macbeth's Vocabulary

“False face must hide what the false heart doth know” (1.7.82) This is a very well known quote from Macbeth. It means that in the play, Macbeth portrayed he was innocent, although in his heart he knew he was guilty. In 1606, Shakespeare wrote this play this play and named it Macbeth. Macbeth is about a man who is willing to do any diabolical action it takes to get the title of king. This play has been read, acted, and loved for over four centuries along with many of Shakespeare’s other work. Which probably makes you wonder, what is so important about Macbeth that we have passed it down from century to century? You’re not the only one who thinks that. People everywhere ask the same question. We have passed down Macbeth for so long because it is a great way to expand your vocabulary with the complex words he uses, you really get a good understanding of the historical background, and all his stories have amazing storylines. Macbeth is a wonderful way to expand your vocabulary by learning several words. Shakespeare uses old english literature in his plays. Although it is very understandable, sometimes you have to think about what some of the lines mean. Which is a good challenge for the high school level. Because this play was written in the Elizabethan time, and preformed at that time for them, it is an excellent way to learn how the spoke or acted at that time. Of course, things are very different now than they were 400 years ago. This is another reason why Macbeth is a little challenging, but good for the brain. Its nothing like every other modern book you'll read in your lifetime.
