Lady Macbeth was an honourable wife, but you could tell that right after she received that letter from Macbeth (stating the witches’ prophecies), her first instinct was to kill Duncan, as she says to Macbeth “O, never/Shall sun that morrow see!” (I, v, 67-70). That one letter that Macbeth sent, would start their journeys onto actually performing the deed. Then, throughout the play, Lady Macbeth suffered from night terrors and committed suicide because she couldn’t bear the weight of taking so many lives. Macduff’s family consisting of an innocent child and wife, was brutally murdered by Macbeth…
the second thing that Macbeth did was tell his wife about the prophecies, when he wasn’t sure if he should kill Duncan. However, Lady Macbeth told him that he wasn’t being very manly and that he should kill Duncan, because that would mean that she then would be married to the King of Scotland. Looking at their relationship through the text, it is easily put together that Lady Macbeth was in charge of her husband 's actions until she started to go crazy. As the story developed, so did their lies and they started to drift apart. It came to the point that Macbeth didn’t even care that his wife committed suicide because he was so obsessed with the idea of being powerful.…
Red Stained Guilt In today’s society the word blood is most often used in reference to the red liquid that circulates the body. Macbeth expresses guilt shortly after killing the king and after hiring murderers. His remorse makes him a more human character and makes his downfall more tragic. The last major theme in the play is portrayed by multiple characters, which is guilt. Macbeth felt very guilty right after he committed King Duncan’s murder, “As they had seen me with these hangman’s hands/list’ning their fear, I could not say ‘Amen,’/when they did say ‘God bless us’” (II.ii.35-37). In that quote you can tell Macbeth feels extremely guilty because he cannot say the word “Amen.” A word that he used to be able to say with ease, now seems nearly impossible to come out of his mouth.…
Topic sentence Lady Macbeth is one of the most intriguing characters to analyse in Macbeth. Her actions seem to be fleshed out well and she irrefutably holds power and control when she speaks. Nonetheless, being a woman in the Dark Ages holds in its own inadequacy. She keeps it all to herself; all the events that happen around her and her partner, Macbeth, after murdering Duncan which causes her to feel guilt.…
In the play Macbeth William Shakespeare showed how guilt affects some of the characters in the play and used several motifs to show the guilt. Some of the characters affected by guilt in the play through the motifs of blood, sleepwalking, and ghosts to show guilt were Macbeth and Lady Macbeth The first person who felt the effect of guilt was Macbeth. He who is guilty and driven by ambition will be blindly pulled around until justice stares him in the face. The Lion King by Roger Allers and Macbeth by Shakespeare are two very different pieces of work but have similar themes throughout. The Lion King and Macbeth have two character in which guilt haunts them in different ways. Blood is significant in both pieces of literature because the main characters feel that they cannot get the blood of others off their hands. Both characters go on a journey significant to their upbringing or downfall.…
When Macbeth’s conscience clashes with his ambition, it becomes major reason for his downfall. Macbeth was formerly a good man at the beginning of the play, he was a man with moralities and a good conscience, shown by his uncertain thoughts of murdering Duncan in cold blood. “I have no spur/To prick the sides of my intent” (I, vii, 25-26), shows that he could not spun himself to action without “Vaulting ambition” (I, vii, 27), and that is how it should be in the first place, but he was so easily deceived by his Lady Macbeth to overlook his conscience. While Lady Macbeth is the symbol of ambition, Banquo is the symbol of morality, he knew about the witches intent to “win us harm” (I, v, 132), and even warned Macbeth about it before Duncan’s…
In the first murder, Macbeth was hesitant to perform the deed, and backed out until she angrily spoke: “From this time/Such I account thy love. ”(Act 1, Scene 7), which held him accountable to their love. He knew his wife would turn on him with anger, and to diffuse that, he reluctantly agrees. His wife sparked his killing spree and shares equal, if not more credit for the murder of Duncan as she implored Macbeth to do it when he wished not to. She urged him on, insulting his masculinity and bravery when she states: “When you durst do it, then you were a man”(Act 1, Scene 7).…
The absence of guilt can destroy a human mentally, physically and emotionally. This is because a lack of guilt can make a human lose the things that make them human. They will lose morals, they will misuse power to destroy relationships so they can gain more power. Without guilt a human will have a loss of humanity, loss of morality and they will misuse power to destroy relationships to get more power. In Macbeth William Shakespeare portrays that the absence of guilt can turn a human into a cold, ruthless, vicious and cruel animal.…
Guilt is an emotion associated with feelings of shame, regret, or responsibility for something a person has done. In Shakespeare’s Macbeth, the two protagonists, Macbeth and his wife Lady Macbeth, both suffer feelings of guilt for a heinous crime, the murder of their king. Guilt manifests itself differently in these two characters, as it does in every guilty person. Shakespeare uses blood imagery to develop the theme of guilt, as both characters struggle with and grow accustomed to the presence of blood throughout the play.…
In life there are many events that can manipulate the human mind and lead people to do corrupt things in order to achieve the power of success they desire. Throughout literature the theme of passion versus responsibility is always recurring. This conflict is present in Shakespeare play, Macbeth demonstrates how passion versus responsibility can affect not only the individuals, but also everyone else. Mary states that Macbeth provides a starting point for of Shakespeare 's teaching about tyranny and the limitations to human desire (McGrail 1). The video starts off with a shot of the murderer, played by my little sister, staring towards a single candle. The choice to use only one candle was to emphasize the setting of medieval Scotland and the dark aura surrounding the murderer. The candle was also used to illuminate the murderer’s face, showing the blood and knife that “he” was holding. The use of a knife and “blood”, which is just face paint, was to clearly suggest that a murder had occurred. The low angle camera shot was used to suggest the unintended dominance and menace that the murderer’s words had on Macbeth and the angle represents Macbeth’s changed perspective as he is now frightened and weakened by the murderer’s claims.…
