All the witches were was just a distraction to keep him occupied. His love changed from loving to becoming an addiction for the prophecies they kept telling him. “All hail, Macbeth, thou shalt be king hereafter!” (1:3:53), was the prophecy that changed his mindset about everything. Each prophecy caused him to kill more and more people and to become more and more blind to what was really going on around him.
