Macbeth was written by William Shakespeare in 1606 about a power-thirsty man. In this play, Macbeth finds out he could become king. He becomes so caught up on the idea of becoming king that he will do anything to get there. Shakespeare has a very unique way of incorporating horror into his work. Rupert Goold’s 2009 production of Macbeth captures the exact horror of this piece. Macbeth involves multiple murders, fight scenes, and three witches. The witches play a very important part in the play because they are who gave Macbeth the information about his future. They can be seen as the reason for Macbeth’s insanity.
