Leadership and Approach “Approach each person with the idea of helping him or her solve a problem, or achieve a goal, not of telling them what to do,” -Unknown. Approach is a leadership quality that is often overlooked, although it is extremely important. Not all humans are the same, you have cultural differences, ethnicity differences, language barriers, and different perspectives. Some people work well under pressure, while others may have a mental breakdown. To be an effective leader you need to know how to accommodate these people. You need to know what kind of method to use with each individual to get the best work out of them. Approach is the best quality a leader can possess because

Duncan, for example, could be taken either way. He obviously had a good method working with his troops because they all loved him and were loyal, along with the citizens. On the other hand, he was a little too trusting of his Thanes which resulted in his death. Lady Macbeth is the next character. Her technique is all-around bad. First of all she asks the witches to strip her of all feminine instincts, then goes on to plan out and help commit Duncan’s murder. She could have taken a different manner to that situation, such as going to talk to the witches about the prophecies they told her husband or even talking with Duncan. Macbeth’s style is the worst of them all. He did not only kill Duncan, but he hired people to kill both Banquo and Macduff’s family. Macbeth could have taken so many different approaches in these situations. He could have gone and talked out a solution with all three of these people. Macbeth chose the careless option, only thinking of himself. “Besides, this Duncan Hath borne his faculties so meek, hath been So clear in his great office, that his virtues Will plead like angels, trumpet-tongued, against The deep damnation of his taking-off,”(Macbeth, pp. 39). In this quote, Macbeth is talking about how Duncan has done a great job with his people and the kingdom, but he wonders if “meek” is really a quality you want your king to …show more content…
God is the most influential person in someone’s life that believes in Christianity. God’s leadership style can be described as transferable. God gives instructions to his disciples and only becomes involved when they don’t do as asked, or when one of the 10 commandments has been broken, but there is always a reward for people who follow his covenant, eternal life. For example, Adam and Eve were placed in the Garden of Eden with only one instruction, not to eat the forbidden fruit. They disobeyed the Lord's command, God replied: “You will work hard for your food, until your face is covered with sweat. You will work hard until the day you die, and then you will become dust again. I used dust to make you, and when you die, you will become dust again,” (The Holy Bible, Genesis 3:19). Another example of God’s leadership and power over people is the story of Noah’s Ark. God flooded the whole earth because of the corruption of mankind, “I will destroy all the people I created on earth. I will destroy every person and every animal and everything that crawls on the earth. And I will destroy all the birds in the air, because I am sorry that I have made them,” (The Holy Bible, Genesis 6:7). Noah and his family, with a boat full of 2 of every species of creature were the only living beings that got to survive the flood. God’s actions could be interpreted as harsh, but it’s the same concept as your parent's

Lady Macbeth’s character before the murder is persuasive and manipulative. Evidence for this can be found when Lady Macbeth is talking to Macbeth and she tries to make him decide on whether to kill Duncan or not by saying ‘I dare not wait upon I would’ or for him to ‘live a coward'. In addition to her being persuasive, it also seems as if she may be an impatient person, as she said, ‘I dare not wait’. She is also a manipulative woman since she is trying to make…

Lady Macbeth uses manipulation by emasculating and shaming him to convince him otherwise. Macbeth says to Lady Macbeth shortly after his encounter with the witches, “We will proceed no further in this business. He Hath honored me of late, and I have bought Golden opinions from all sorts of people” (1.7.34-35). In this quote Macbeth clearly states to Lady Macbeth that he can’t go through with murder. When Macbeth says, “He Hath honored me of late” he is speaking about Duncan who has treats him with nothing but respect and honor. He also has no reason to to kill Duncan, he is a respected successful lord. Macbeth has a transparent conscience on the actions he’s expected to take to achieve becoming king. Lady Macbeth does not take no for an answer when she says to Macbeth, “ Was the hope drunk Wherein you dressed yourself? Hath it slept since? {...} Wouldst thou have that Which thou esteem’st the ornament of life And live a coward in thine own esteem” (1.7.39-47). Here she uses his masculinity and dignity to manipulate him. When she calls him a “coward” she is making him feel less of a man. Due to what Lady Macbeth said to Macbeth, he decides to kill Duncan. If it weren’t for Lady Macbeth drowning his mind with lies and manipulation he wouldn’t have killed Duncan. After Duncan is killed, Macbeth begins to go down a rabbit hole that he can’t get out of, Lady Macbeth is…

Macbeth was not sure of everything and who was really there to help him on decisions. He did not know who was by his side to guide him through the process. First, Macbeth was influenced by the three witches, who made Macbeth more determined to become king. However they made Macbeth bring out his deepest and darkest side. In the play, the witches never mentioned that Macbeth had to kill to become king, he has decided by himself that killing Duncan was the only way to be crowned. Someone who also influenced Macbeth was his wife, Lady Macbeth. She has initiated Macbeth to become a murder. Lady Macbeth used Macbeth’s masculinity against him and called him a coward. Hearing these words, Macbeth was offended and knew he had to take action to not embarrass himself in front of his wife. Since being influenced by his wife, Macbeth has had his friend and a family killed. Being an influential person makes you seem weak and lead a king to take the wrong path. For Macbeth, it wasn’t deciding to kill Duncan but it started earlier. The first time that Macbeth listened to the witches prophecy, was his first step to bringing upon his own demise. After he was fed the information that he,one day, would be king, he started to make decisions that compromised his thinking and clouded his judgement. To prove that Macbeth was a tragic hero, we have to look at all the decisions he’s made since he started to follow through with killing King Duncan. the second thing that Macbeth did was tell his wife about the prophecies, when he wasn’t sure if he should kill Duncan. However, Lady Macbeth told him that he wasn’t being very manly and that he should kill Duncan, because that would mean that she then would be married to the King of Scotland. Looking at their relationship through the text, it is easily put together that Lady Macbeth was in charge of her husband 's actions until she started to go crazy. As the story developed, so did their lies and they started to drift apart. It came to the point that Macbeth didn’t even care that his wife committed suicide because he was so obsessed with the idea of being powerful. Taking a few steps back, the third and last thing Macbeth did was lose his mind. When Macbeth lost all his rational thinking, his death was inevitably close. As Macbeth chose power over living, and Lady Macbeth let insanity take over, the story of another tragic hero that was obsessed with the idea of being in power came to an…

Right from the start, Lady Macbeth displays a lack of humanity due to her burning passion to become queen. Through dramatic irony, readers are able to see through her amicability towards King Duncan, characterized by letting him into her own home with open arms, and ultimately, not displaying her true intentions. This passion only becomes stronger and stronger over time as she persuades Macbeth to commit murder, even going as far as questioning his “lack of courage” (Jamieson). Once there is an opportunity for Lady Macbeth to take on a role of power, she jumps at the opportunity, even going as far as convincing her husband to help her take part in gaining power (Jamieson). Based off of the actions and decisions that she made throughout the…

Lady Macbeth manipulates him to kill Duncan. “When you durst to do it, then you were a man”…”(page:229 lines#49). This shows that Lady Macbeth manipulates him because she is saying you will be a man if you do this job, and if you do not do the deed you will be less of a man. “I am settled and bend up each corporal agent to this terrible feat.”(page:230 line#80). This is proving that Macbeth is weak willed because after his wife telling him he would not be a man if he doesnt kill Duncan; he makes his decision to kill Duncan, so he was manipulated to think killing the king was more of a good thing than a bad deed. As a result Macbeth is very…

Lady Macbeth is very manipulative and ambitious. Her evil is articulated in words and in her cunning strategies. Macbeth had decided not to execute King Duncan and told her not to continue with the deed, instead of ending the plans she replied with a ‘motivational speech’ which then changed Macbeth’s mind. In the speech, Lady Macbeth verbally attacks Macbeth by testing his masculinity and also linking it back to personal attacks such as when she say she would smash her own son's brain then back out of this deed. Macbeth was more motivated to kill King Duncan after she said, “What beast was ’t, then, That made you break this enterprise to me? When you durst do it, then you were a man...” (1,7,48-58). In this line, she questions his masculinity by making him remember that he was the one who told her he wanted to kill the king. She says that he dared to do this deed he was a man but if he backs out then he is considered less of a man. Macbeth questions what happens if they failed but she brushed the thought aside and told him to leave all the planning to her and all he needs to do is commit the murder, it was this line which made him commits the…

When Lady Macbeth decides that she and her husband need to kill King Duncan, she realizes that she needs to be violent, like a man. She says, “Come, you spirits/That tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here,/And fill me from the crown to the toe top-full/Of direst cruelty! make thick my blood”(Shakespeare I. v. 41- 44). Lady Macbeth connects manliness to violence. In order for her to be able to commit such an unforgiving act as murder to get what she wants, she must act like a man. She acts more dominant than her husband, brushing off Duncan’s murder like it was a common thing, even making Macbeth feel feminine for regretting it, saying, “When you durst do it, then you were a man” (Shakespeare I. vii. 49). Macbeth’s innocence and shock at the idea of murdering the king he was so loyal to was the way a woman would feel. Lady Macbeth made him feels this way, and the only way for him to be a man was to be violent and act on a whim like she did. It was Macbeth’s savagery that led to his demise at the hand of rebels. Hence, violence is made to be a manly, aspirational quality in Macbeth which only hurts those who act this way in the…

Firstly, the act in which the witches give the prophecy about Macbeth’s future status most clearly defines Macbeth’s personality; he almost immediately considers murder to be a plausible way to gain power after being honoured by the king, stating, “Let not light see my black and deep desires.” Later in the play, the words of the witches are still influencing Macbeth; he sought out the witches to demand an explanation and another prophecy. Macbeth reacts more hesitantly to Lady Macbeth, denying her suggestions fiercely--even so, Macbeth agreed to murder the king after his wife assured him that their plan would succeed. Macbeth, stated, “ I have no spur to prick the sides of my intent, but only vaulting ambition, which o'erleaps itself and falls on the other.” In other words, Macbeth, even after admitting that there was no real need to kill the king, still murders Duncan, wanting his power for himself.…

After reading her husband’s letter, Lady Macbeth is ambitious to make the witches’ prophecies come true. However, she fears that Macbeth is not ruthless enough to go through with killing Duncan. She explains in the quote, “Yet I do fear thy nature;/It is too full o’th’ milk of human kindness/To catch the nearest way,” (Shakespeare, 31) that she rightly believes her husband too gentle and soft to do anything he can in order to become king. This reveals a lot about the power dynamic of their relationship. At least at the very beginning of the play, Lady Macbeth is portrayed as strong-willed and selfish, while Macbeth is weak. She seems to be capable of easily convincing him to do things in order to reach her…

Macbeth does not start the play in a murderous state of mind, but as soon as the witches inform him that he is destined to become king, he slowly starts doing whatever it takes to secure that position of authority (McGuinness 71). At first, one can easily blame the witches, as they were clearly trying to test Macbeth’s reaction when they declare “All hail, Macbeth, that shalt be King hereafter!” (1.3.50). Lady Macbeth also manipulated him significantly throughout the play. When Macbeth starts to have second thoughts about killing King Duncan, Lady Macbeth quickly attempts to persuade him by asking “art thou afeard // To be the same in thine own act and valor // As thou art in desire?” (1.7.39-41). However, these examples of manipulation would not be so effective if Macbeth did not already have a dangerous thirst for power. When he sees that the coming kings are Banquo’s descendants, he declares it a “Horrible sight!” (4.1.122), and immediately plans to murder massive amounts of people in an attempt to secure his place on the…
