Macbeth Is Not A Dead Butcher Essay

Macbeth is a complex character that does show traits of a savage slaughter, but once analysed, a deeper understanding of his character shows that he is not just a dead butcher. A butcher is fearless and ruthless; the first murder, Duncan, Lady Macbeths role leading to the killing of Lady Macduff and her children, and the opinions from Malcom’s point of view show the true character of Macbeth and why Shakespeare portrayed him with negative outlooks and positive outlooks throughout the play. Macbeth is first seen as a noble warrior that is loyal. We are told the emotions Macbeth is feeling before and after the murder of Duncan. Shakespeare uses this positive Macbeth to prove Macbeth’s character of positive and negative and also prove that there is more to his character than just the murderous crimes that he committed. We view him as great and it puts a positive view of Macbeth into the audiences mind, settling and resolving the story in a calming way. It also emphasis that Macbeth is not just a dead butcher, this statement is an accurate description of Macbeths decisions but not his character. The Play ended restoring political and social order and Macbeth’s death is part of that.
