I chose "Fate Stay with me" by Alanis Morissette for Act one, Scene three when Macbeth, accompanied by Banquo, his first encounter with the three witches. This song was chosen for this scene because at first Macbeth was content with the idea that fate was going to do all the work for him in advancing his life to greater fortune. The song states “I wanted money and hope and a dream to carry me forever. This is all the hope I got left. Help me to get it together” This represents Lady Macbeth saying she wants Macbeth to be king “Than wishest should be undone. Macbeth feels invincible, although, he doesn’t know the witches plan, he believes no one can kill him to take the crown and that the prophecies will never be true. The first apparition appears and tells Macbeth no one can kill Macbeth who is not woman born. Macbeth states, “Then live, Macduff. What need I fear of thee?” Macbeth also disagrees that the forest can move by saying, “That will never be. Who can impress the forest, bid the tree Unfix his earthbound root? Sweet bodements! Good!” After hearing the three prophecies Macbeth is extremely confident that no one will come near to take his throne, this is why I chose “Can’t Touch
